Easy product navigation
Design and implement navigation so customers can find products quickly across a large catalog. At minimum, support browsing by:
- Category and sub-category
- Brand
- Product type
Project overview
A client needs a wholesale website for their customers. Buyers must register before ordering. The site must make it easy to find products in a large catalog, support tiered wholesale pricing, take online payments, and allow large-order quotation requests. Transaction data will need to connect to a backbone database (likely via API; details TBD).
High-level requirements
Please include all of the following in your proposal. Call out any assumptions, recommended platforms, and items that would change cost.
02 — Catalog
1,000+ products with images
The catalog will contain more than 1,000 products. Each product has 1–6 pictures, which will be provided by the client. Include product listing, product detail, search, and image galleries.
03 — Accounts
Customer registration & account management
Customers must register an account before they can place an order. Include registration, login, password recovery, and account management (profile, addresses, and related account functions).
04 — Payments
Payment gateway for online orders
Integrate a payment gateway so approved customers can complete orders online. Please recommend a suitable gateway (or support the client’s preferred provider) and describe PCI / security approach.
05 — Quotations
Request for quotation (large orders)
Customers must be able to request a quotation for large orders instead of (or in addition to) checking out at listed prices. Include a clear RFQ workflow and notification to the business.
06 — Backend data
Backbone database / API integration
Integrate with a backbone database for transaction data, likely via API. Exact system, endpoints, and data mapping are TBD. Please describe your approach for a TBD API integration and any discovery time you would include.
07 — Pricing
Multi-tier pricing
Support multiple price tiers so the same product can display different prices by customer type, for example:
- MSRP
- Retailer
- VIP
- Additional tiers as needed
08 — Currency
Currency exchange
Support currency exchange so prices can be shown / transacted in more than one currency. Please specify how rates would be sourced, updated, and applied at checkout.
09 — Hosting
Domain and hosting already exist
The client already has a domain name and hosting. The solution should be deployable to their existing environment, or you may recommend a migration if the current host cannot support the proposed stack. Please state hosting requirements clearly.
Required site pages and footer links
In addition to catalog, cart, checkout, RFQ, and account flows, the site must include the following information and utility pages. These match the client’s expected footer navigation.
Content for these pages will be provided by the client where needed.
Please include page templates, navigation, and the functional pieces
(wish list count, newsletter signup, affiliate/gift-certificate flows)
in your quote.
